Back in April, TRT Spor from Turkey stated Tottenham Hotspur were set to send a scout to follow Rıdvan Yılmaz in action for Beşiktaş.
It was also explained the north London club are particularly interested in the 21-year-old.
Fast forward to July and there’s a fresh report in the Turkish press discussing Tottenham as a suitor for the left-back.
Fanatik state the interest in the player continues, as after clubs from Germany and Italy, Spurs have ‘stepped in’ for the defender.
Yılmaz mainly operates as a left-back, but was also used as a left wing-back last season, when he managed three goals and four assists from 33 matches in all competitions.
Eintracht Frankfurt wanted the Turkey international this summer. They were looking to take him by paying the fee in instalments, but Beşiktaş wanted the full fee paid upfront. The deal didn’t take shape due to the difference over the payment method.
When these developments were taking place, Tottenham ‘came into play’ for Yılmaz. It’s claimed Antonio Conte has ‘approved the transfer’ of the fullback, which is why Spurs sent scouts to watch him in action towards the end of the 2021/22 season.
