It’s that time again, the period when managers and fans of clubs bite their fingernails whilst hoping none of their players pick up an injury on international duty.
Monday already saw Manchester United’s Paul Pogba limp out of a training session for France, and there’s almost certainly going to be a line of other players also picking up issues.
For Tottenham and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, that time has come, although there’s a chance he could have taken the injury issue with him, after being the victim of a bad tackle against Everton at the weekend.
Ekstra Bladet report that Højbjerg is out of contention for Denmark’s first match of the international break, a World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Friday.
There’s no clarity over what the exact problem is, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jesper Lindstrøm has been called up as cover. Despite that, it’s stated there’s still hope the Tottenham player could be available after the Faroe Islands match, with Denmark set to face Scotland next week.
