Tottenham are ‘seriously interested’ in a move for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi this summer and are already working on a potential deal.

That’s according to Record, who say Spurs are ‘willing to pay’ €24m for the striker should Harry Kane end up joining Bayern Munich.

The newspaper reports that Tottenham are ‘firmly in the market’ for a new centre forward as they gear up to potential lose their record goal scorer to the German champions.

Taremi is the man they are eyeing as his replacement, and they are ‘seriously interested’ in a deal for him.

The 30-year-old Iranian is open to the move and recently placed his future in the hands of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is ‘on the ground’ mediating the negotiation between the two clubs.

According to Record’s information, Porto have no intention of letting their star striker go on the cheap and intend to bring in at least €30m for him. Thus, there is a €6m gap between them and Tottenham at this point in time.

That’s not a huge gap by any means and the newspaper insists that they are in fact ‘very close’ and could reach an agreement before too long.

For the time being Taremi is watching from the sidelines, preparing for the Portuguese Super Cup and committed to winning that before turning his attention to his future.

He knows, though, that at 31 this could be his last chance to play in the Premier League, a possibility that ‘has always excited him’.
