On July 4th, Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport reported Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for AS Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo and have included Toby Alderweireld as a part of the deal.
Another Italian newspaper, Tuttosport, now again claims Spurs are willing to offer the former Southampton centre-back plus €20m for the Italy international.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ‘serious’ about him and the Giallorossi finds the proposal made by the English side ‘more attractive’.
If the white smoke has not arrived, it’s because the player is still not convinced, which is why he is stalling.
Zaniolo wants to see if he can continue in Serie A by joining Juventus, so that he can improve his chances of making it to Euro 2020.
For him to join the Turin club, Gonzalo Higuain must move to the Italian capital. Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici is looking for a way to please Roma and also convince the Argentine to accept the offer.
There could be more developments on this next week.
Tuttosport claim, ‘The optimism for the big trade is reported to be growing. Juventus are looking for the key to incentivise the exit of Higuain and favour the arrival of Zaniolo.’
‘The market is also made up of opportunities and the champions of Italy do not want to miss the intriguing possibility of getting their hands on one of the best Italian talents while solving the Higuain grain.’
Tottenham, on the other hand, cannot wait and are expecting an answer from Roma and Zaniolo.
