Even though there have been a number of suggestions that Tottenham will not be spending any money in January, that doesn’t mean the club and José Mourinho aren’t preparing for the summer.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Premier League side will send a scout on Friday to watch Inter vs Roma, and the Italian website have kindly given us a list of players they are expected to be keeping an eye on.
The first is Milan Škriniar, whom Mourinho is a big fan of as he already tried to get Manchester United to sign him during his stint at Old Trafford.
With both Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld entering the final months of their contract at Tottenham, it’s easy to see why the manager would be keen on a new centre-back if one or both of the Belgians leave on a free.
The second is Amadou Diawara, who moved from Napoli to Roma in the summer.
The Mali international has long been mentioned as a Tottenham target in the past, suggesting this might be more of a club goal than Mourinho’s.
As for the last player, it’s Nicolò Zaniolo, whom Spurs were heavily linked with over the summer.
The Roma youngster has taken the footballing world by storm over the last year or so, and it isn’t surprising to see a club of Tottenham’s calibre being interested in his services.
None of this means the London club will move for these players in the summer, but with a history of interest behind all three, whether it be through the manager or the club itself, it makes sense for a scout to be present at that game.
