Kristoffer Ajer’s current deal at Celtic runs until 2022.
Tore Pedersen, the centre-back’s agent told the Norwegian media on Thursday the 21-year-old will not sign a new deal with the Bhoys and will leave them after this season.
These claims were relayed by Sporten and it was also explained the Scottish Premiership champions will have no choice but to cash in from the defender’s sale after ‘resisting’ offers from AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
Another report from Sporten now claims the comments made by the player’s representative are seen ‘as an opening’ by Spurs and therefore, the north London club have ‘set things moving’.
It was not long-ago Tottenham tried to sign Ajer, but there’s no mention when the approach was made. They have now renewed their interest in him.
It’s claimed the Celtic defender has matured, and has mastered about ‘attacking from a defensive position’.
Jan Vertonghen’s contract with Spurs expires in the summer and Ajer could be his replacement, if José Mourinho’s side end up securing his signature.
