Tottenham Hotspur are ‘really interested’ in Cristian Romero and their managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, would like to bring the defender to the Premier League this summer.
That’s what Calciomercato are reporting about the centre-back, who spent the last season on loan at Atalanta from Juventus.
Paratici brought the Argentina international to the Turin club from Genoa and even though he struggled for opportunities with the Old Lady, he still ‘likes’ what the Argentine has to offer.
The player is also appreciated by Nuno Espírito Santo, as it’s said the ex-Wolves manager wants the north London club to sign a new centre-back and the 23-year-old is the ‘first name’ on Nuno’s target list.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, down at their end, have an option to make the South American’s loan stay permanent and they are much likelier to exercise this option.
Atalanta would have planned to sell him and as per the report, the Serie A side value the player ‘no less than €40m’.
Paratici is ‘working on’ bringing Romero to the English capital and if he fails to do so, Calciomercato state Spurs have identified Inter Milan’s Milan Škriniar and Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu as alternatives.
