Gareth Bale has been left out of Real Madrid training for a second consecutive day as he waits for his agent to seal a return to Tottenham.
That’s according to AS, who say that the Welshman has ‘stopped training with his teammates’ while waiting for his agent to sort out his return to his former club.
The newspaper states that Bale has ‘definitely disappeared’ from Madrid training as he is aware that he is ‘a foot and a half’ outside of the club at present.
That’s because he is waiting for his agent, Barnett, to ‘finalise negotiations’ with Tottenham so he can travel to London and ‘formalise his situation’ with Spurs.
They explain that Barnett has ‘taken command’ of negotiations between the two clubs, although they were already in dialogue beforehand.
As yet it is not known whether his move to Tottenham will be a ‘handover’ – we’re translating that as a free transfer – or for a one-year loan. Either way, his €15m a year wages need to be dealt with somehow.
For now, he is sitting out of training, which is the clearest indication yet that things are progressing.
As for the move, AS say Bale that he has chosen a return to his former club over Manchester United, who have also made an offer to Madrid because he believes North London is the ‘perfect place’ for him to be ‘important in the football world again’.
