Already rejecting moves to Everton, West Ham AC Milan and Napoli, Keita Baldé has made it rather clear that, if possible, he wants to play for Juventus.
Lazio’s want around €30m, however, with the reigning champions only willing to pay half of that considering the player’s contract runs out next summer, a move to Turin hasn’t materialised.
Yet, according to Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday, the 23-year-old could have an interesting decision to make soon, as Tottenham are allegedly ready to bid what the Italian side want for him.
The newspaper state Spurs have been following the Spain U21 international for quite some time, and even enquired about him a few months ago, but Tottenham have only waited until now to actually make a move.
Whether that is because the club have finally realised that Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, for all its great achievements, still needs strengthening, who knows, but Corriere explain he was their second choice after Ryan Sessegnon to bolster their left hand side.
‘Indirect contacts’ have already taken place between the two sides, most likely via representatives, and a fax was said to be expected either yesterday or today with the offer from Tottenham.
The Italian outlet also hint that AC Milan could come back late in the window for Keita, but they would need to convince the forward and his agent about their project, which they haven’t managed to do thus far after he rejected a move there when Lazio accepted their €35m bid for him.
Spurs’, however, doesn’t seem to be an issue, what with Champions League football and the club regularly challenging at the top of the table, and while Tottenham isn’t Juventus, playing for a top team in a league that is said to ‘fascinate’ him, he might not need that much persuading to sign on the dotted line.
