Earlier today, we carried a report from Catalan newspaper Sport, who claimed that Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong is a ‘priority signing’ for Barcelona and the midfielder has already seduced the leaders of the La Liga winners.
The Eredivisie club’s sporting director, Marc Overmars revealed the Camp Nou outfit did not value the Netherlands international enough after their bid of €30m was turned down by Erik ten Hag’s side.
Mundo Deportivo also have a story about the 21-year-old in today’s edition of the newspaper and claim the Blaugrana have been in contact with the Dutch outfit, but not with the player.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been repeatedly linked and it now seems Tottenham are in every Catalan story about De Jong’s potential transfer.
The report mentions the north London club have presented a ‘very substantial offer’ for De Jong and, along with other clubs, are trying to ‘seduce’ him to join the Premier League side.
His employer are also aware that several clubs are behind their player and therefore, they could want as much as €70-€75m, when they decide to sell the midfielder.
That sounds too much for Tottenham, but there’s surely the possibility of a cheaper deal.
