In the past few months, we saw countless stories from the Italian media claiming Juventus are interested in signing Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
Something that also drew the local press’ attention lately was the injury of Rodrigo Bentancur, with the former Bianconeri player suffering yet another serious ankle injury which will sideline him for months.
Those stories are now added to each other, because according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Højbjerg is now very unlikely to leave Tottenham in the middle of the season.
The story claims that the chances of this transfer are ‘collapsing’, as Bentancur’s injury ‘excludes any type of availability’ from Spurs to sell the Danish player.
It’s said that in the last time Juventus tried the signing of Højbjerg, there was already only a ‘small margin’ of negotiation to get it done. Now, there is nearly no hope.
The Old Lady are now expected to go after the midfielder next summer, when Tottenham are expected to demand between €25m and €30m for the sale, even though he’ll be just one year from seeing his contract with Spurs expire.
