Serge Aurier has picked up a ‘very stupid injury’ report RMC on Tuesday morning.
The Tottenham player wasn’t able to take to the pitch for Ivory Coast on Monday, in their Africa Cup of Nations match against Mali. He had an ankle injury injury preventing him from directly taking part, so seemingly just got wound up on the sidelines instead.
With the score 0-0 at half-time, Aurier banged his fist on a table, and injured his wrist.
After the match he spoke to the media, whilst wearing a splint.
RMC quote him as saying: “We got a little heated, because in the game we were not good. I hit the table and there you go. At home, when things go wrong, the parents scream at us. It’s the same thing. We had to have no regrets.”
There were frank exchanges during the break, explained the Spurs player, and it seemed to do the trick, as Wilfried Zaha scored the winner in the 76th minute.
The Tottenham player hopes to be fit, from both ankle and wrist injury, for the quarterfinal against Algeria on Thursday. There’s no suggestion either issue will cause a problem for his Tottenham return, although the club won’t want him testing that ankle if it’s not ready.
