If recent claims are to be believed, Christian Eriksen’s situation is getting a little needy.

Earlier this summer the Tottenham player made it clear he’s considering a transfer, and flirted a little with Real Madrid.

That got coverage in Spain but the story hasn’t ever been especially serious. Eriksen has always been a plan b, with recent claims saying Donny van de Beek has even edged him aside for that.

At the end of last week there were claims from Denmark that members of the player’s family have been in Madrid house-hunting, ahead of a possible transfer to the city.

That was also picked up in Spain, with Marca saying Daniel Levy had called Real Madrid to offer the player, but the approach had been knocked back.

Now the same Spanish newspaper has another claim.

It’s explained that Eriksen ‘seemed discarded’ at Madrid, with Van de Beek the fallback option to Paul Pogba. However, Levy’s direct offer has ‘reactivated a possibility that seemed asleep’.

Martin Schoots is now set to travel to Madrid this week, after reiterating to Levy there’s no desire for a Tottenham renewal.

He wants to know their intentions, and perhaps has a pitch planned.

Maybe a presentation showing just what Eriksen could do for the Spanish club.
