As Tottenham Hotspur players in Brazil won’t stop speaking to the local media, we once again get to see a story about Lucas Moura’s future at the club.
Since the player doesn’t hide his wish of moving back to São Paulo and the Tricolor admit they’d welcome him with open arms, the local media has been taking his time in the country to repeatedly ask him about this rumour.
Lucas Moura’s latest interview was with ESPN Brasil (via UOL). There he admitted it’d be very unlikely for his former club to buy him from Tottenham this summer, and even guessed how much Spurs would demand to sell him in this transfer window.
“Very difficult, unlikely. I haven’t had any conversations with the club, so I’m probably part of the plans. Not just salary, but the fee. Tottenham wouldn’t release, I don’t know, today my market value to buy would be £10m or £15m, I don’t know if it would fit in the reality of the club.
“We also qualified for the Champions League, something that motivates me a lot. I don’t know if I’ll have another opportunity to play in the Champions League. It’s very difficult to come back now. If the clubs are talking, I don’t know. I still need to know from Tottenham if I’m part of the project, I believe I am. In my head I want to play this year.”
As we all know, Emerson Royal has also been giving plenty of interviews to the Brazilian media. On Sunday, he was interviewed by Gazeta’s Mesa Redonda, and the future of Lucas was a subject once again. Asked if there’s a ‘farewell atmosphere’, he claimed he believes his teammate is staying at Tottenham.
“No. We know about Lucas’ quality, he’s a very important player for the group, who’s familiar with us and has a very beautiful history at the club. We know Lucas’ potential. I believe he will remain at the club. But I will ask him about it.”
Perhaps the pair should now concentrate on enjoying the rest of their holiday period.
