Tottenham goalkeeper Pau Lopez has returned to his former, and still technically parent, club Espanyol for a visit after being given a couple of days off by Mauricio Pochettino.
Mundo Deportivo report that Pau travelled to Espanyol’s Ciudad Deportiva Dani Jarque training centre to pop in and catch up with his former teammates. Pau joined Espanyol as a 12 year old so was brought up at the club both on and off the pitch.
When it became clear last summer that Quique Sánchez Flores wasn’t going to count on him as first choice goalkeeper, Pau took up an offer to join Tottenham initially on loan, with Diego Lopez arriving at Espanyol from Milan.
Tottenham are expected to make the deal permanent and that would likely see Pau becoming second choice behind undisputed No.1 Hugo Lloris.
Pau’s visit to Espanyol is believed to be just social and have no bearing on what will happen with his Tottenham future.
