Tottenham are ‘planning to make a new offer’ for Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba but will need more to get him from the German club this summer.

That’s according to Sport journalist Partick Berger, who says Spurs are planning a new offer of €45m plus addons for the defender.

Ange Postecoglou is seemingly keen on signing a new first-choice centre-back this summer, particularly with a permanent deal to sign Clement Lenglet from Barcelona having yet to come to fruition.

Tapsoba has been named as a target for several months, with it explained last month that they would offer €40m and the defender was keen on the move. That report also stated Leverkusen would sell reluctantly for the right price.

Berger now follows that up and says Tottenham are ‘pushing’ to sign Tapsoba, with the plan to make a new offer of €45m plus add-ons for the player.

The problem for them is that Leverkusen ‘want way more’ for their player, with it made clear the German club ‘doesn’t want to sell’ this summer if they can avoid it.

Tottenham will therefore need to put extra effort, and it seems extra cash on the table as well, then if they want Tapsoba in the centre of their defence next season.

Either way, it could be a potential starting point for more serious negotiations going forward.
