Tottenham Hotspur are today named as strong contenders to sign Albert Gudmundsson.
Calcio Mercato comes forward to say that after Radu Dragusin, it’s now the Icelandic player who could leave Genoa for Spurs.
It’s no secret Gudmundsson has been drawing some interest lately, and the report highlights that Tottenham try to ‘overcome Inter Milan and Juventus’ in this race.
Italian clubs are said to be struggling with the price for the signing, with Genoa expected to demand over €35m for the sale in the summer window.
Those clubs know this isn’t a bluff, as back in the January transfer window, Fiorentina had a failed attempt after putting €25m on the table.
Another potential advantage Tottenham could have is that they’re set to meet Genoa at the end of the season to talk about Djed Spence, who’s having a loan spell at the Serie A side.
The Serie A club can buy him for €10m, but as the clubs have ‘planned a summit’, Calcio Mercato points out that Gudmundsson could end up mentioned in the conversation.
That would present a potential discount for Tottenham in a one in and one out scenario.
