Following reports from the English media at the weekend claiming Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the signing of Braga defender David Carmo, the Portuguese press is now full of stories about this chase.
Most of them are only coverage of what was already said, and others seem to bring a little bit of new information about it. At least it sounds like that, and is the case of an article from newspaper A Bola.
The outlet starts their story pointing out that following the scouting jobs that many clubs have been doing over David Carmo, the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham already started moving for his signing.
It’s said both the Bundesliga side and Spurs had their boards ‘opening negotiations’ ahead of a potential summer move.
Only then A Bola mentions the story from the English media, and the rest of their article is basically only referring to that report, adding some information regarding Carmo’s season with Braga.
Following claims that Carmo could be signed for only £20m, despite his €40m release clause, the newspaper doesn’t even try to dismiss that information, as they really don’t sound like they had some deep learning of what’s going on in the talks for now.
And since no one else found out how far Spurs got in their chase for Carmo for now, we better wait and see what the local media has to say in the coming days. Last week, they had reported Liverpool and Manchester United interest in the defender.
