It’s rare to have a day when we don’t cover a story about Adrien Silva and another about William Carvalho. The pair are the current transfer favourites for the Portuguese media, and several newspapers usually have something to say.
Correio da Manhã claim the Sporting manager Jorge Jesus will continue using William until he gets a serious offer to leave the club. The Lions are said to be demanding between €30m and €35m for him, and that’s why the interested sides are said to be backing away from the target.
And one of these clubs would be Tottenham Hotspur, who are also interested in, guess who: Adrien Silva.
The newspaper claims Tottenham want both, although they don’t mention who would be the priority or how advanced the talks are with Mauricio Pochettino’s club.
Adrien’s situation recently changed a little from William’s. After Sporting’s new additions for the midfield arrived, the player was sent to the bench, and is more likely to leave the club.
There’s been claims he rejected West Brom to wait for Tottenham, and his price is also €30m.
The Portuguese press can keep repeating these claims, and throwing Tottenham in, but, right now, there doesn’t seem an awful lot to it. At €60-65m for the pair, according to the latest, figures signing the pair would be a big operation for Tottenham, and almost certainly something they don’t need to do.
