Monday’s edition of O Jogo isn’t very confident Bruno Fernandes will be moving to Tottenham.
There’s two reasons for this.
Firstly, and most importantly, Tottenham won’t meet Sporting’s asking price for the midfielder.
Spurs are ‘not forthcoming’ with more than €60m, and the Lisbon club wanted €70m. There’s been efforts to agree a scenario which would see bonuses and different ‘forms of payment’.
That presumably means Tottenham were offered the option to spread some of the payments out, whilst still allowing Sporting to shout about receiving a big fee.
The second issue, at least for O Jogo, is hearing reports from England of a move for Giovani Lo Celso being much closer than it was a few days ago.
Spurs have been chasing the Real Betis player all summer, and have found issues on price an issue there too.
The Seville media have made it clear Betis would be happy to sell for the right about of money, so perhaps they’re an easier track than Sporting.
