Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez remains on the ‘list of favourites’ for Tottenham ahead of the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Centotrentuno, who say Spurs will still face competition from Napoli for his signature.
Nandez has been widely expected to leave the Serie A side this summer, but so far, no move has taken place, despite plenty of interest.
Tottenham have long been named among his suitors, but despite reports indicating that a move was close at one point, they are yet to make the final push and get a deal done.
Centotrentuno say he remains on their ‘list of favourites’, but they will have to ‘beware’ the presence of Inter Milan and also Napoli in the background.
Luciano Spalletti appreciates the midfielder, and he would likewise be happy with a move to Naples should it be offered.
At the minute, they are discussing a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of it, and Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to satisfy the demands to make a move happen.
Calciomercato have something of a different take on the situation, stating that Nandez is expecting Cagliari to keep their promise and allow him to leave.
According to their information, Inter are ‘thinking about’ a move, and so are Atalanta, but they are ‘more behind Leeds and Tottenham’ in the race.
Inter would need to sell one of their current midfielders first, meaning a move there is more unlikely at this stage.
Either way, it seems Tottenham have plenty of competition for the Uruguayan, and if they’re as keen as has been suggested, it would be wise to move sooner than later to get him.
