Tottenham Hotspur have played a role in helping Djurgårdens IF Fotboll’s Theo Bergvall regain full fitness, according to Fotboll Direkt.
Two months ago, Spurs agreed a deal with the Swedish club for Bergvall’s brother, Lucas, to arrive at the Premier League side in the summer.
Tottenham came forward to help Theo even though there’s no direct link between the two parties.
Since the end of February, the 19-year-old hasn’t made an appearance for Djurgården. After a training session, the defender was seen lying on the ground due to an injury, and a few days later he had to undergo surgery.
It was initially expected he would spend a long spell away from the pitch, but that didn’t happen, partly due to Spurs.
Fotboll Direkt state the surgery was not related to an injury in training. Instead, it was for a past problem, where Theo felt ‘loss of feeling in the feet’ due to ‘compartment syndrome in the calves’.
Djurgårdens decided to operate, with the help of Tottenham ‘medical expertise’, at a clinic in Finland. The report adds the defender was forced to undergo a second operation due to an infection.
As per Fotboll Direkt, Theo has had his stitches removed and should soon start training with his teammates, and Tottenham’s assistance is commendable.
