Sergio Reguilon’s move from Tottenham to Atlético Madrid is ‘accelerating’, with the Spaniard already in Madrid for a medical.
That’s according to AS, who back up reports from earlier today that a move back to his home country was moving quickly.
The newspaper reports that Reguilón has been chosen as the man to replace Renan Lodi this season after the Brazilian joined Nottingham Forest on loan over the weekend.
They say that he could be announced as an Atlético player today, stating that the move is ‘accelerating’ and could be made official ‘very soon’.
Atlético contacted Tottenham ‘a few days ago’ knowing that Reguilón wasn’t a part of Antonio Conte’s plans. The deal was ‘quickly concluded’ after that.
Indeed, the move is now so close to being finalised that there is a belief the player could be a part of Atlético training this evening.
Diego Simeone and his squad are set to train at Cerro del Espino at 7pm and ‘it is not ruled out’ that Reguilón will attend and meet his new teammates.
