Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilón is a ‘low-cost’ alternative for Barcelona this summer if they can’t sign Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the former Real Madrid man has been ‘offered on loan’, and the Catalans are keeping the option on the table.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona are looking at adding a left-back to their squad in this window, although it is not a priority at this moment in time.
The man at the top of their list is Marcos Alonso, but there has been a delay in reaching an agreement with Chelsea over the Spaniard.
Thus, Barcelona are ‘looking at certain alternatives’ and one of them, MD has learned, is Tottenham’s Reguilón.
He was ‘offered’ to the club weeks ago via his agent Kia Joorabchian, who has made it clear that the player has been made available for loan by Tottenham.
Barcelona are not making their move for now, but Reguilón is seen as a ‘good alternative’ to their current preferred options as any deal for him would be a ‘low cost’ one.
It all depends on whether Barcelona can get either Alonso or Celta Vigo’s Javi Galán, but they are not finding it easy to secure either of those signings.
Any move also depends on their attempts to sign Jules Koundé and Cesar Azpilicueta, which could put a further strain on the club’s finances and see Reguilón ‘gain importance’.
