Tottenham are holding talks with Fiorentina over midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who is ‘more than just a suggestion’ for the Italian side.
That’s according to La Nazione, relayed by Fiorentina.it, who say there has been ‘a meeting’ between the two sides over the Argentine.
The newspaper reports that Lo Celso, who spent the second half of last season with Villarreal, could be moved on again this summer.
He established himself as a key player for the Spanish side in their run to the Champions League semi-finals, but their limited finances mean a return has not happened as yet.
As such other suitors are moving, and Fiorentina are one of them as they are looking to add ‘quality’ to their midfield in this transfer window.
The current idea is for the player to arrive from Tottenham on loan with a right to buy included in that deal.
This would allow Lo Celso to ‘present himself’ in Serie A and Tottenham and Fiorentina to then discuss a possible future at the end of the season.
Whether it’s a deal Spurs would accept is up for debate, though, as Antonio Conte’s side would presumably prefer to just sell Lo Celso outright and recoup some of their money on him.
If that’s not on offer, which is currently the case, perhaps a loan deal would make sense for everyone involved.
