Tottenham Hotspur loanee Sergio Reguilon is edging close to his debut for Atletico Madrid.

The player was already recovering from an injury when having his move confirmed in the final days of the transfer window, as he had recently gone through a pubis surgery.

Now Mundo Deportivo writes that the process is taking new steps.

For now, as he’s still to work under manager Diego Simeone, he trains with Oscar Pitillas and Jose Ignacio Zahinos, who are responsible to making him fit.

On Wednesday morning, despite not joining Atleti’s squad yet, the player was seen wearing boots and working with the ball in ‘various explosive exercises’.

So it shouldn’t take long until he makes his first appearance since leaving Tottenham.

Mundo Deportivo writes that the Colchoneros hope they can have him with the group by the next week, even though that all depends on the evolution he has in these first days back training on the pitch.

Since his contract with Tottenham still runs until 2025, Spurs certainly need to keep an eye on the situation, hoping he has a decent spell in Spain to make him more valuable in the future.
