Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig earlier this month, strengthening options in attack.
Ange Postecoglou has used the German on the left wing and despite his arrival, Spurs have reportedly made an attempt to sign another forward.
SportBild, relayed by FCB Inside, claim Tottenham made an approach for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
The 18-year-old has been restricted to a substitute role this season, making only four starts from 23 appearances, scoring six goals and registering three assists in the process. Thomas Tuchel has used the France U21 international across the attacking positions.
Spurs wanted to bring Tel to the Premier League in the winter market. It’s claimed both the English club and Werder Bremen have ‘asked’ the Bundesliga winners if they can sign him on a loan deal.
Bayern have ‘ruled out’ Tel’s exit in the winter market and therefore rejected Tottenham and Werder Bremen approaches.
Former Tottenham star Harry Kane is the first-choice striker at the Bavarian club, with Tel and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as his back-ups.
Bayern will consider sending the Frenchman out on loan in the summer, if they sign an established striker. Tottenham were apparently keen on taking Tel this month and whether they’ll return for him after this season needs to be seen.
