After a couple of months being linked to Benfica winger Jota, it seems Tottenham Hotspur are getting more serious about this chase.
According to newspaper Record today, after making a few approaches for the player, Spurs are thinking about finally bidding for him.
The outlet doesn’t say how much Tottenham are willing to offer or how much Benfica demand for Jota. But since he’s protected by a €30m release clause, it can’t get ridiculous.
Back in March, reports said Spurs had been watching Jota’s international games, and there would be some heavy competition for him, since Bayern Munich were doing the same job.
Jota is one of the Benfica players who left the academy to join the first team this season, and even though he hasn’t played a lot like the others, his few appearances were enough to impress.
With six games for the Eagles this season, the player is now joining the U20 national team to feature in the World Cup in Poland later this month.
