While Hugo Lloris has signed a new contract, which should put an end to stories about the Frenchman being replaced this summer, there is the question of who backs him up at Tottenham.
Fabio Paratici ensured that was sorted for the current campaign, as he brought in Pierluigi Gollini on loan from Atalanta, but there’s no guarantee the option to buy in the deal will be triggered.
That would leave only Alfie Whiteman behind Lloris, which is why Tottenham looking at a young option who already has an U21 cap for England makes sense.
The man in question is Etienne Green, currently at AS Saint-Etienne in France, where he was a regular starter until very recently.
Injuring himself in December, the 21-year-old missed a couple of games, which allowed Paul Bernardoni to shine and eventually supplant him for now.
If that doesn’t change between now and the end of the season, perhaps an exit could be considered, with Tottenham reportedly keen.
That’s according to But! Football Club, who claim Spurs are one of the clubs whose name have ‘circulated’ of late for a transfer ahead of ‘next season’.
Not only that, but it’s also pointed out that Tottenham have been ‘long-standing suitors’ of his.
One to keep an eye on.
