While neither Tottenham or Leicester City are in desperate need of a goalkeeper, the fact that both Hugo Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel are now well into their 30s remains something that cannot be ignored.
The Spurs shot stopper has had a mixed season so far, shining against the likes of Manchester City but making mistakes either side of his elbow injury, and a few have questioned whether it might be time for the London club to move on.
As for Leicester, they certainly seem happy with Schmeichel between the sticks for the time being, especially since he’s only concede 28 goals in 29 games so far this season in the Premier League.
However, Il Tempo in Italy believe both Tottenham and the Foxes have been keeping an eye on Lazio’s Thomas Strakosha, who has himself been shining for the Serie A side.
Twenty three goals conceded in 26 games is a very good record, and the Albania international is one of the many reasons why Simone Inzaghi’s men are currently second in the league, one point behind Juventus.
Lazio want to keep Strakosha, and plan to try and convince him to extend his current contract by doubling his wages from €1m to €2m/year.
If he says yes, then that will be the end of that, but nothing has taken place so far, with far greater things to worry about in Italy these days, and we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
