On May 21st, we covered claims from Spain which stated Tottenham were the ‘main player’ in the race to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid this summer.
Arsenal and Juventus interest was also mentioned, but Spurs had the ‘most interest’ in the 22 year old.
It was claimed Mauricio Pochettino’s side were willing to spend €40-50m, which we pointed out seemed a little high.
A day later, Spanish newspaper AS claimed the manager ‘wants’ the midfielder and he’s ‘one of the main objectives’ in the summer transfer window.
El Confidencial cover the player’s situation today, and insist there’s interest from the Premier League. Although Arsenal have asked about the signing, at some stage, it’s stated Tottenham are ‘leading’.
A source at Real Madrid is quoted as saying the potential transfer fee “should not go below 30m and should get as close as possible to 40”.
That gives further grounds to believe the earlier claims of Tottenham being ready to spend €40-50m were shaky, because Spurs are hardly going to pay more than they need to.
