On Monday, The Athletic explained VfB Stuttgart’s Nicolás González is a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur.
The Athletic’s report about interest in the Argentine side is backed up by AS in Argentina. Their title reads, ‘Mourinho’s Tottenham looks at Nico González’.
The forward started the season as a substitute after recovering from an injury, but has gained prominence in recent times. He has five goals and two assists in 10 league appearances.
According to AS, the 22-year-old’s ‘great performances’ have already helped the attacker attract interest from elsewhere.
Tottenham are the only club mentioned and it’s claimed the north London side are ‘interested’ in González. Hence, they have ‘already begun to discuss his signing’, mainly because he’s a ‘player of José Mourinho’s taste’.
AS make it clear this is their own information, and they further state the player’s entourage have told them González is ‘very well and comfortable’ with his current employer and therefore a transfer would be likelier at the end of the season.
Given AS make it clear they’ve spoken to the player’s camp, it would be assumed that’s where their Tottenham claims have come from.
