As things stand, the biggest problem at Tottenham when it comes to the transfer market will be finding a landing spot for Tanguy Ndombélé, who has made it clear he wants out after falling out with José Mourinho.
Once that’s done, Daniel Levy can focus on the second biggest issue the club currently face, which is finding a suitable backup for Harry Kane.
Spurs have yet to find someone willing to sit behind the Englishman since Fernando Llorente’s departure, but they might be on the right tracks with Habib Diallo.
That’s nothing new, as they were already keen on the FC Metz striker back in January, as revealed by his agent, Thierno Seydi, who explained Tottenham had made an offer for the player.
Our guess is that the Ligue 1 side refused to discuss a transfer since it came midway through a very important season for them, as they tried to avoid relegation back to Ligue 2.
With that now out of the way (they finished 15th), they can focus on the market.
According to La Semaine in France, Diallo will leave Metz in the coming months, and ‘even if he was [at training] on Monday, his move to England is beyond any doubt’.
In fact, according to their information, it’s Tottenham who ‘have the inside track’.
That’s a nice way of saying they are the favourites to sign him, and perhaps Spurs have finally found their man.
Diallo was in great form for the French club this season, scoring 12 goals in 26 league appearances, as well as picking up three assists.
