William Saliba has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some months now, with Arsenal easily being the club to get most mentions in French reports.
Others have popped up here and there, and there’s been heavy scouting of the Saint Etienne player.
The club to have appeared most strongly in recent days is Tottenham, with the genuine possibility they could beat their London rivals to the signing.
RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi now reports Spurs seem to be ready for transfer action. Whilst Arsenal remain locked in talks with the Ligue 1 club, Tottenham have initiated contact with ASSE themselves.
It’s claimed Mauricio Pochettino’s side have told Saint Etienne they’re in talks with the player and will be submitting an offer ‘in the coming hours’.
One problem which may have been holding Arsenal’s deal up is that the French side want to keep Saliba on loan for a year, which would be a big ask if they’re expecting around €30m for the player.
Tottenham, who are pretty well stocked right now in central defence, could be better prepared to wait.
