The Chilean media wasn’t very sure of how would Alexis Sanchez do in Copa America. With the player coming back from injury after a season where he scored only two goals for Manchester United, his form in the tournament was quite unpredictable.

Outlet AS brings a story about it today. Sources from the national team say that his first days with the squad were hard, especially because his bad season in England was being commented on a lot.

However, things have changed since he travelled to Brazil. AS reports that ten minutes before training and matches, Sanchez has been entering the pitch before his teammates, running towards the first ball he finds and not letting it go as he warms up.

“After the first game, he changed his mood”, a source told AS. The outlet calls his time in São Paulo a ‘therapy’ and the player himself has recently talked about how happy he is to represent his country.

La Cuarta is another outlet who praises his form today. They take stats from websites such as Sofascore and Whoscored to say he’s the best player in the tournament, having the best average rating, above Philippe Coutinho and James Rodriguez.

Chile are playing the quarter finals in São Paulo on Friday night, as they face Colombia.
