Over the past few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur emerged as one of the contenders for the signing of Benfica star Darwin Nunez, with the Portuguese media claiming the London side were eyeing the Eagles’ striker to potentially replace Harry Kane.
It turns out that the Uruguayan player continues to show big potential at the Lisbon side, as after scoring against Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax this season, he now had a goal against Liverpool this week.
And Tottenham’s interest in signing the 22-year-old continues to be reported, with a story from newspaper A Bola today including Spurs in the list of clubs who want to sign him.
The outlet managed to confirm with agent Edgardo Lasalvia that there are several European sides who have been in touch to get some more information on the striker’s situation at Benfica.
Spurs are one of those who either wanted to know about the price for his signing or have more reports on his performances for the Eagles.
It turns out that following Darwin’s 28 goals scored this season so far, Benfica are making huge requests to let him go this summer, with A Bola saying the Lisbon side will demand €100m for the move.
This means that if Tottenham do end up selling Harry Kane and replacing him with Darwin, they perhaps better be prepared to spend all the money from the English star’s sale to sign the Uruguayan.
