Tottenham and Mateo Kovacic rumours are in the Spanish media again on Tuesday, with AS explaining how much he’s getting edged out of Real Madrid’s squad selections.

Perhaps doing little more wrong than not being Spanish, Kovacic’s chances will be harmed by the arrivals of both Dani Ceballos, signing from Real Betis, and Marcos Llorente, returning on loan from Alaves.

AS report that Tottenham are the only club to ‘have submitted an offer’ for Kovacic so far, having a bid of €25m refused. Regardless of the veracity of that, and it wouldn’t be too hard to argue it never happened, Kovacic remains a good idea for Tottenham and others.

The 23 year is already full of experience and it may be easier to now persuade him the Real Madrid dream is over.

AS suggest that an offer closer to the €35m Real Madrid paid could do the trick, perhaps Tottenham could consider around €30m.

Any need at Spurs depends on their own outgoings, so this is one to consider at the end of the transfer window.
