Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen has told the Dutch media he is prepared to step up and take a penalty when he faces his club teammate Hugo Lloris tonight.

The Netherlands meet France tonight in Rotterdam, and Janssen will go into the game full of confidence after his stunning goal against Belarus on Friday night.

Speaking to De Telegraaf ahead of tonight’s crunch game Janssen was asked if he would be prepared to take a penalty against his club captain. The 22-year-old revealed he’s not fazed by facing Lloris because he trains with him every day.

Janssen believes it would just be like any other spot kick, and therefore doesn’t think about who he’s facing from twelve yards.

“I’m not afraid to take a penalty against Lloris because I train with him every day. It’s just a penalty and it does not matter to me who is in goal,” said the Tottenham forward.

Despite his poor scoring record since joining Tottenham in the summer, Janssen has continued to produce for his county, and will be confident taking a penalty against Lloris after scoring from the spot against England in March. Although the Dutch media may regret having planted a seed of doubt.

Janssen’s only goal for Tottenham came via a penalty against Gillingham in the EFL Cup
