Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has revealed regrets over striking out at West Bromwich Albion’s Claudio Yacob. Alli was found guilty of violent conduct, which ruled him out of Tottenham’s final three games last season.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, Alli said he regrets hitting Yacob, and realises it was a mistake to get involved with the Argentine midfielder. The England international believes he has learnt his lesson from what happened against West Brom, and thinks he’s now become a better player because of the negative experience.

“It’s something I regret. It was a mistake. But sometimes you need to make mistakes in order to learn the lessons from them. Obviously I was disappointed not to be playing, but I have learnt from it and it’s helped me grow as player and as a person,” said the Tottenham youngster.

Alli’s three match ban from the FA resulted in the player missing Tottenham’s crucial game with Chelsea, which ultimately ended the North London side’s title ambitions. The England international has been in impressive form in recent weeks for Tottenham, and is back among the goals after a slow start to the season.
