Leeds United were linked with Belgian youngster Anthony Limbombe throughout the last summer transfer window, before the winger took the decision to join Club Brugge. However, due to injury his time at the Belgian club hasn’t gone to plan, and it looks like Limbombe’s season is now over due to muscular problems.

Limbombe was a wanted man throughout the summer following his performances for Dutch side NEC, and even though a bid came in from Leeds United he preferred a move back to his home country. Despite a steady start at Brugges, Limbombe was struggling to complete the full ninety minutes, with the player being substituted five times in his nine league starts.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played for Brugge since December after picking up a stomach muscle injury, and after recent surgery it’s unlikely he’ll play again this season. Limbombe would have been expected to push on this season by getting a move to a Champions League club, but it’s turned into something of a disappointment.

Leeds United tried to sign Limbombe in the 2015 summer transfer window, but failed with a bid to sign the young Belgian. Leeds United were linked with the player for the next twelve months, and again showed an interest in the attacker last summer.
