Tottenham Hotspur are in the the race to sign Corinthians youngster Guilherme Arana, according to claims in the Italian media. The 19-year-old has impressed in Brazil since making his debut two years ago, and subsequently is being followed by the Premier League side, and Schalke 04.

TMW have reported in the last hour Tottenham will hold a meeting with his agent in London today with regards to signing the left back. It’s been claimed the next few days will be decisive for the future of the young Brazilian, but the North London side need to fight off the attentions of Schalke.

The Bundesliga side have already made contact with Arana’s representatives, but Tottenham will be hoping their past dealings with Corinthians, when they signed Paulinho in 2013, will give them a slight advantage.

Arana made his debut for Corinthians in 2014, and last year he was loaned out to fellow Brazilian side Clube Atlético Paranaense for a short spell. The youngster has already won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A with Corinthians, and has represented the Brazil U20 side.
