If Dele Alli is to switch from Tottenham Hotspur to Paris Saint-Germain, it will have to wait until the very last minute.
At least, that’s what Friday’s edition of L’Equipe are reporting as they look into what the Ligue 1 champions could do in the last few days of the January transfer window.
The French newspaper explain both clubs are still ‘talking’ but, on Thursday night, ‘conditions weren’t in place for the operation to go through’.
That has nothing to do with Alli himself, as the Tottenham midfielder ‘is ready to join the team managed by Mauricio Pochettino’, whom he knows well from their time together in London.
This means that should this go through, ‘it will certainly be in the last few granted hours, this weekend or Monday; last possible day for transactions’.
There are questions being asked about this desire to sign Alli, what with Angel Di Maria, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, Pablo Sarabia, Moise Kean, Mauro Icardi and Julian Draxler all already present, and it’s asked whether four months will be enough for the Englishman to make himself some space in a busy attack.
Then again, with Pochettino at the helm, there might be some early preferential treatment waiting for him…
