Tottenham Hotspur are planning to offer a new contract to Lucas Bergvall, according to Fotboll Direkt.

The Sweden international joined Spurs from Djurgårdens IF Fotboll last summer, after the two clubs reached an agreement for the transfer in February 2024.

Bergvall initially took time before finding his way into Ange Postecoglou’s core plans at Tottenham. He’s played over 2,000 minutes from 40 games in all competitions for the north London club.

The midfielder had already signed a contract until 2029, but Spurs want to offer him an extension.

According to the report, the 19-year-old has ‘exceeded expectations’ in his debut season at Tottenham. Therefore, the club want to reward the Swede with a new contract, and it is ‘in the works’.

Negotiations between the two parties are ‘signalled this summer’, meaning Tottenham could make progress in the next few weeks.

Fotboll Direkt state the player currently earns SEK 22m [€2m] per year and his salary will increase with the extension. They aren’t aware of the figures or the length of the new contract.

The outlet also points out Bergvall’s ‘rapid success’ at the Premier League club has seen his valuation rise to SEK 700m [€63.9m].
