Towards the end of the summer window, Manchester City were credited with an interest in Dušan Vlahović after failing to take Harry Kane away from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Fiorentina star was named as a candidate to replace Kane at the north London club. Eventually, both strikers ended up staying with their respective clubs.
Vlahović, however, continues to draw attention from elsewhere and in particular, from the Premier League.
That’s mainly due to the lack of agreement over a new deal with the Serie A side. His current deal lasts until 2023 and Fiorentina chairman Rocco Commisso has publicly admitted he’s irritated with the striker’s decision to delay signing an extension.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported on Thursday the Serbia international’s contract situation opens up the possibility for a transfer. It was also explained City ‘dream’ of bringing the 21-year-old to the Etihad.
Calciomercato have a short report on the frontman, stating that Spurs ‘continue to tempt’ the player to join them as there is no progress on his renewal talks with Fiorentina.
It’s claimed Tottenham are joined by ‘other British clubs’, but the website doesn’t provide details of those ‘other clubs’.
A potential deal, either for Spurs or City, could be difficult. TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Enzo Bucchioni suggests Vlahović ‘already has an agreement’ in place with another club and all tracks ‘lead’ to Juventus.
To back his theory of a potential agreement with the Turin club, Bucchioni states it was surprising to see Vlahović and his entourage remain ‘insensitive’ to approaches made by City and Atlético Madrid in the summer.
