Antonio Conte left Inter Milan back in May and returned to management when Tottenham Hotspur named him as Nuno Espírito Santo’s successor at the start of this month.
The Italian media have linked the north London club to some of Conte’s former players, such as Marcelo Brozović.
His current deal with Inter expires in 2022 and last week’s report indicated Conte is ready to welcome the midfielder at Spurs.
TuttoMercatoWeb now claim Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham ‘continue to be among the teams interested’ in signing the Croatia international. The outlet even provides an update on the renewal talks.
The player is represented by his father, Ivan, and the latter had a meeting with the Serie A winners on Wednesday. In the last two meetings, Inter have ‘upped the ante’, raising their offer from €4m per year to €4.5m plus bonuses and then close to €5m.
Brozović’s camp have an intention to ask for an annual salary of around €6m, likely after tax. This demand had ‘blocked contacts’ between the two parties, even if ‘everything seemed set for a meeting halfway’.
Things further changed after the player demanded a four-year deal worth €30m, knowing that the duration left on his current contract gives him an advantage. Should he continue to make similar demands, TMW say ‘Brozović could leave’ the San Siro.
As things stand, the distance between the two parties is still wide. They will meet again in the coming weeks to find an agreement.
With Tottenham and PSG named as interested parties, Simone Inzaghi’s side are ‘afraid’ there are other clubs who are ‘ready to make exaggerated offers’ to the Croatian.
Therefore, the ‘risk’ of Inter not finding an agreement with Brozović cannot be excluded.
