With Antonio Conte currently at the helm, it’s likely that Tottenham will need a new centre-back sooner rather than later.
Suggestions from the English media were that Alessandro Bastoni was the ideal man for the Spurs manager, but Stefan De Vrij is also a name that has been floating around.
However, Il Mattino, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24 on Wednesday, suggest another could be on the list, and that’s Kalidou Koulibaly.
The defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a number of years now, with Manchester United normally the name that follows his, but with Fabio Paratici in charge of transfers at Tottenham these days, the Italian market could be Spurs’.
Koulibaly is clearly a talented defender, and his height and physique are ideal for English football, which is why it isn’t surprising to see him back in the transfer rumours.
The newspaper explain that Koulibaly has received a number of ‘requests’ from various clubs in England, with Tottenham being one of them.
However, as things stand, the stance in Naples is that ‘everything is closed for now’, because they are currently still in with a remote chance of winning the title, and it appears they will wait until after the season ends to discuss their star’s future.
