With Ajax eliminating Real Madrid from last 16 of the Champions League just days after they were knocked out of the Copa del Rey, it is no surprise they will be looking for a new manager.
Two days ago, we relayed news from Spain that Mauricio Pochettino ‘will not hesitate’ to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
On March 7th, Mundo Deportivo reported the former Southampton manager is a ‘big favourite’ to replace Santiago Solari at the Spanish capital club.
Another Catalan newspaper, Sport, takes a look at four candidates who are favourites to become the next manager of the 13-time European champions and this includes the Spurs boss, Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho and Germany coach Joachim Löw.
Zidane stepped down as Real Madrid last summer and Pochettino was approached then to be the Frenchman’s successor. However, he continued with his current employer because of his loyalty towards the English club.
Sport claims things could be different this time around and if Real Madrid are willing to pay the fee to the Premier League club to secure Pochettino’s services, and if the latter asks to leave the club, then Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could ‘give in’.
There isn’t anything concrete on who will be the next manager of Real Madrid and as of now it’s just talks about the potential candidates.
