Tottenham Hotspur are ‘serious’ about signing Napoli star André-Frank Zambo Anguissa in the summer, according to Napoli Calcio Live.
The midfielder was an integral part of the Serie A side’s title winning squad this season. That has seen him generate interest from the Premier League, where Spurs are in the mix.
It’s said Tottenham are ‘constantly monitoring’ the 27-year-old since they are in the market looking for a new player in the middle of the pitch.
Napoli have been made ‘anxious’ after the north London club knocked on their door for the ex-Fulham man.
Spurs’ better economic conditions can allow them to table an ‘important offer to convince’ the Napoli president. Anguissa currently earns €3m per season and the Premier League side are ready to offer him an ‘important salary’ to join them.
With an offer from Tottenham expected for the player, Lucian Spalletti’s side are ‘starting to really tremble’.
Anguissa is happy with his life in Italy, but he may consider changing clubs. To make the final decision, Champions League football could prove to be decisive, something that Tottenham won’t be able to offer next season.
With three games to go, Spurs are sixth in the table and trail fourth placed Manchester United by six points. Tottenham may have to convince Anguissa, if they wish to secure his services.
