Portuguese newspaper A Bola today brings a short update on Tottenham Hotspur’s mission to sign Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto.

It’s claimed that with Harry Kane’s potential departure to Bayern Munich, Spurs are ‘betting heavily’ on getting the Dragons’ star.

It’s Jorge Mendes who’s intermediating the talks between Tottenham and Porto, having delivered the first €24m bid.

The Dragons, however, want at least €30m for the sale, and manager Sérgio Conceição won’t accept not using him in the super cup clash against Benfica on Thursday.

A Bola points out that Taremi has ‘always’ shown his wish to play in England, but despite the opportunity showing up, Porto won’t make things easy.

The striker is protected by the Dragons with a €60m release clause. Now with his contract expiring next year and him having turned 31 this summer, that’s the reason the club aren’t demanding a lot more money for a player who had 31 goals and 14 assists last season.

Taremi has been heavily linked with a departure this year, and it seems Tottenham just need a little rise in their offer to get that done.
