Both journalists and football fans had a quite busy deadline day, with so many deals being confirmed or collapsing. A bit different from other years, things were so busy that there wasn’t much room for new rumours to show up.

But now there’s time to keep an eye on some of them, and one of the interesting claims made yesterday being Tottenham Hotspur going for another Brazilian after signing Lucas Moura from Paris Saint Germain. That’s David Neres.

The information was brought by journalist Bruno Andrade, from Goal Brasil, who followed Lucas Moura’s saga closely and got the news pretty right.

There was just a little mention this time, saying David Neres is the next one on the line, as the Spurs intend to sign the 20-year-old next summer. The club ‘already plans to invest’ in the player.

Neres had already been named as a Spurs target last month, but in a different situation. The very same Goal claimed he was a plan b in case Tottenham failed to sign Malcom from Bordeaux.

Now it seems the Lucas Moura opportunity showed up and looked like a better option, but apparently, the interest in Neres hasn’t gone away.

Neres was signed by Ajax from São Paulo in a €12m deal in January 2017. Just this season, the player has nine goals and 12 assists in 24 appearances for the Dutch side, quite an impressive record for a youngster.

But how much would Ajax demand for him? That’s information which is still not out in the Brazilian press, although we know he certainly won’t be cheap.
